As the dark January days settle in, it is the perfect time to retreat indoors for a creative reset.
Join me for a special session where we bring the atmospheric, fairy-tale world of Sybille Schenker (see images from her book illustrations) and traditional Scandinavian art to the gelli plate.
This classy, "Scandi-noir" aesthetic is a beautiful match for a quiet winter morning.
In this relaxed, hands-on session, you will learn how to build gorgeous, full-bleed landscape prints using a unique combination of stark, moody tones and tactile mark-making.
What?
• Atmospheric Layering: How to roll and blend deep charcoal, midnight, and forest tones to create a glowing, moonlit winter sky.
• Folk Stencils & Masks: Learn to block out bold, stylized shapes of winter wildlife (hares, deer, owls) or bare pine trees using perfectly symmetrical paper cut-outs.
• Subtractive Texturing: Use simple tools to scratch fine woodblock-style patterns and channels directly into the wet paint before your pull.
• The Velvet Pull: How to transfer your final high-contrast layers onto premium paper or card for artwork that looks like a hand-carved relief print.
Gelli printing is fast-paced, highly therapeutic, and deeply satisfying. Because the process is entirely about texture, colour, and pattern rather than precise drawing, it is completely impossible to get it wrong.
You will leave with a collection of your own unique sophisticated, multi-layered prints and a basic understanding of gelliprinting.

Please wear warm, old clothes that you don't mind getting paint on during Winter months. Feel free to bring an apron.
