Gelliprinting - a 5 part course at Clevedon Craft Centre starting 08/11/24

£150.00 / On Sale

What?
This intensive 5 part course will take you through all the basics of Gelliprinting (monoprinting on a Gelli plate without a press). It's suitable for complete beginners or those wishing to develop their Gelliprinting skills.

You will learn:
- inking and cleaning the plate
- set up, including a simple registration system
- silhouette and ghost prints and how/when to use each
- how to create textures, including using resists
- mark making from found materials
- making home made and using bought stencils
- elements of composition including contrast and value differences
- the benefits of working with limited palettes
- collaging prints/ parts of prints together
- ways to present your finished prints

Working with examples from some of my favourite artists, including Rex Ray and Louise Bourgeois, we'll learn to study and then imitate their work, innovate our own variations and then invent our own works.
You will take home finished prints at the end of each part of the course.
At the end of the course you will have the knowledge to be able to set yourself up at home to continue your own Gelliprinting journey should you wish to.
I'll also recommend Gelliprint artists you can look up to enhance your study.

Gelliprinting is fast and fun and it's easy to get hooked, so having a good set of skills allows you to not only produce works which you love but also gives you skills to be able to continue exploring at your own pace.
