As the official arrival of spring brings nature back to life, it is the perfect time to use plant inspiration and materials to create layered prints.
Join me for a session where we bring the iconic, flowing textile and wallpaper designs of William Morris and the Arts & Crafts movement to the gelliplate.
This sophisticated style embraces the intricate beauty of the natural world.
In this relaxed, hands-on workshop, you will learn how to turn your gel plate into a traditional printing press, combining real botanical elements with detailed stencils to create elegant prints that mimic vintage textiles.
What?
• The Heritage Roll: How to apply and blend sophisticated, muted botanical tones—sage green, dusty rose, muted terracotta, and antique gold—for a classic vintage finish.
• Botanical Masking: Learn how to use real foraged early spring foliage (like ferns, ivy, and other) directly on the plate to capture highly detailed natural silhouettes. Or use stencils to create simple botanical shapes that can be repeated.
• Layered Repetition: Master the technique of aligning stencils and ghost prints to build up the dense, flowing, intertwined patterns characteristic of classic wallpaper designs.
• The Fabric Pull: How to transfer your final intricate layers onto premium papers, building up a beautiful depth that transforms simple prints into timeless decorative art.
Gelli printing is fast-paced, highly therapeutic, and deeply satisfying. Because the process is entirely about texture, colour, and pattern rather than precise drawing, it is completely impossible to get it wrong.
You will leave with a collection of your own unique, multi-layered botanical prints.

The room is upstairs in an old listed building. There are 4 big heaters in the room that keep us cosy but please wear layers of warm, old clothes that you don't mind getting paint on during Winter months. Feel free to bring an apron.
Parking is FREE on site.
