An opportunity to come together monthly to develop your Gelliprinting skills and explore amongst a community of like-minded individuals.
Designed for people who have some Gelliprinting experience.
Maybe suitable for beginners with some art or other printing experience.
For the first few months I'm suggesting an ongoing project where we'll create interesting multi-layered prints using a combination of techniques, which we'll also then work into with paint (opaque and transparent glazes) and other mediums such a crayons to create rich layered pieces. We'll then cut and collage these pieces. We'll even find a use for the 'roll off' sheet!
My examples are playful start points as an idea of what you could do! I got hooked on botanicals but this is just my way of playing with this idea.
The theme is up to you - or you can let the play lead the way and see where you land up and could be abstract as in the last example by artist Jane Davies
There will be modelled suggestions & new skills related to the project and a chance to explore your own interpretations first in class, and then at home in the weeks between gatherings if you choose to.
We'll also share work and issues arising each session too so we can problem solve and further our own development. If the group wants an online forum for sharing between sessions this can be arranged.
Planned sessions will then evolve according to the interests of the group.

Fri mornings from 10-1pm
JULY 18th - creating multi-layered backgrounds using a combination of techniques and textures to build up interest.
Using edges for effects and making partial prints.
We'll then start to use stencils to build interest on top of the initial layers.
AUGUST 15th - making more pieces if required and adding more stencils.
Cutting and combining pieces together for interest.
Using opaque and transparent paint to either print again on top or paint in particular layers.
Then also September 19th; October 17th; November
14th; no December meeting, then starting again in January 2026

MATERIALS:
Please bring your own gelli plate and roller (unless arranged with tutor).
Photocopy paper (A4 and A5) and paints and other required materials will be provided but I will also recommend you purchase some Japanese masa paper or some 120gsm+ cartridge paper for the initial projects and for the printing you may want to do at home between sessions.
Your first large sheet (53 by 78 cm) of masa is provided. Further details provided once you sign up.
The max group size is 12 so you'll have lots of chance to get help and ask questions in a relaxed informal setting.

The room is upstairs in an old listed building. There are 4 big heaters in the room that keep us cosy but please wear layers of warm, old clothes that you don't mind getting paint on during Winter months.
Parking is free on site.
