What?
Gelliprinting onto fabric - using bold shapes and patterns inspired by Swedish designer Lotta Jansdotter and her stylised botanical designs, as seen in photos 1 and 2.
We'll explore ideas for designs on paper first, using stencils or natural materials and layering colours and textures, and then work with those we like best printing onto the fabric pieces, using a setting medium to ensure the pieces can be washed later if you wish.
After the class, you could use the pieces in a variety of ways - like sewing onto tote bags (as that by Lotta in photo 4) or napkins or even a piece of clothing to make an attractive design feature . Or you could just use the session to learn and experiment and then continue further printing after the class.
Gelliprinting is fast to learn and fun and it's easy to get hooked and you'll leave class with your own unique prints on fabric, ready to turn into small bags or napkins or to sew onto an item of clothing as an embellishment or other!
Suitable for beginners or those wishing to improve their printmaking.

How much?
£45.00 per person which includes most materials you will use on the day including some fabric pieces and the setting medium.
You are encouraged to bring your own fabric pieces (the gelliplate size is 5" by 7" but any size will work. You will need flat weave untextured, unstretchy fabric - old cotton shirts or tablecloths would work brilliantly).

This session can be taken as a stand alone or as part of the 5 part course.
The max group size is 10 so you'll have lots of chance to get help and ask questions in a relaxed informal setting.

Please wear old clothes that you don't mind getting paint on or bring an apron.
