Elements of art making in a concertina sketchbook - July's Gelliprint Monthly

£40.00 On sale

An opportunity to come together monthly to develop your Gelliprinting skills and explore amongst a community of friendly, like-minded individuals.

July will be the first session of this run - but classes can be taken as a one off or you can join the whole run through til November - see separate listing.

In this first session we'll be looking at possible elements of art which could be 'ingredients' for our abstract works e.g. lines, circles, crosses.
We'll find inventive ways to create these shapes from different materials and / or use found shapes and forms.
We'll print base layers into home-made concertina sketchbooks and then contemplate different ways to layer on top, including using wet strength tissue paper.

In future sessions we'll also build in:
We'll build up different areas of marks, colours, layers and more, inspired by artist Jane Davies.
Exploring creating monoprint marks off the gelliplate too, as well as using different effects to build varied marks inspired by artist Clare Youngs.
There's also the option of exploring fluorescent paint for those who like it bright, inspired by print maker Jo Norman.
We'll also explore collaging works together to build larger pieces and building larger pieces from any sized plate using masking and more inspired by gelliprint practices of Mark Yeates and others (photo 5).

There's also plenty of scope within the session for people to take on the modelling but then go their own way!
