What?
How much fun would it be to explore random mark making on large sheets - taking a bunch of different tools dipped in ink for a walk across the table top?
In this playful introduction we'll explore the ways in which tools make marks with ink; then we'll use simple materials to make our own tools .
Next we'll use screens to print on top the large sheets, then cut them down to create folded concertina books.
We'll add layers using collage papers and other tools to add colour and pattern.
Then after lunch (bring a sandwich!) we'll use another piece of the mark making from the morning to add gelliprints on top using stencils.
We'll finish by using mounts to find the gems within these strips to take home and frame!
You'll go away with finished concertina books and prints to mount and frame and the tools you made to use with the ink and - we hope- the enthusiasm to have a go at home.
All you need to join is a dose of curiosity and the willingness to explore.

Your teachers are Fi Harris and Julia Weston, both experienced artists and teachers who work across many different mediums.

The room is upstairs in an old listed building. There are 4 big heaters but please wear warm, old clothes that you don't mind getting paint on during Winter months. Or bring an apron.
