Sombria

The 'Portugal Dreaming' series were painted on location in Portugal in April of this year. They started as explorations of the colour palettes I associate with Portugal and quickly became about so much more than colour - they are aspects of life and energy and love I feel for the country which I have visited many times over the years.
This work 'Sombria' (Dark) is about the way the colours in the distance become muted as the sun fades and darkness falls.
