"Interpret" is one of 6 works from my 'Concealed and revealed' works which focusses on texture and the way that this reflects the many layers of life in all its' challenges, opportunities and imperfections. Surfaces are built up and then knocked back repeatedly and new marks and colours added until the work is resolved.
In this one the bright florescent colours contrast with the muted stripped back areas and small marks into the wet paint create the quiet conversation when you look up close. It reminds me of the surface variations you find on a peeling, aged beach hut at a British seaside.

21 x 29.5cm rectangular mixed media work on a birchwood cradled panel. Finished with cold wax for a soft sheen.
Supplied with white, wooden float frame as seen in images.

This work was selected for a juried show, Wabi Sabi, with Art Fluent.
